Shaun Burgoyne is universally respected and viewed as one of Hawthorn’s great leaders.

Now Burgoyne is proud to be a leading voice off the field for The Line, a national campaign aimed at encouraging young people to challenge attitudes and behaviours that condone violence against women.

Burgoyne, Marcus Bontempelli and Patrick Dangerfield are the AFL faces coming together to help 12-20-year-olds identify and call out behaviours that ‘cross the line’, such as being disrespectful towards others.

With personal ties to the cause, Burgoyne, Dangerfield and Bontempelli have each shared their story on camera, encouraging young people to build and maintain healthy, equal and respectful relationships.

AFL Players’ Association CEO Paul Marsh is pleased and proud of adding the voice of AFL players to the stand against violence and disrespectful behaviour.

“With such alarming statistics being released each year around the prevalence of violence, we saw a great opportunity for our players to help influence and change the attitudes and beliefs of young people,” he said.

“It’s important that fundamental messages around respect and acceptable behaviour are resonating with the next generation from a young age and we’re proud that AFL players can play a role in that.”
