AFL Coaches’ Votes – Round 19

Hawthorn veteran Sam Mitchell has climbed onto the AFL Coaches’ Champion Player of the Year leaderboard, courtesy of a 10-vote performance in Hawthorn’s win over West Coast on Saturday night.

There was minimal movement on the leader-board; injured Fremantle star Nat Fyfe remains 15 votes clear of Sydney’s Dan Hannebery, who failed to poll in the Swans’ loss to Geelong.

North Melbourne’s Todd Goldstein remains in third position but edged closer to the top two, picking up five votes in the Kangaroos’ win over the Demons.

Goldstein’s teammate, Shaun Higgins scored 10 votes from the coaches – one of four players to do so over the weekend, with Mitchell, Selwood and Dane Swan the only others to get the perfect score.

Adelaide captain Taylor Walker was given nine votes for his outstanding performance against Richmond’s Alex Rance on Friday night. Gold Coast duo Aaron Hall and Tom Lynch, along with Fremantle’s Stephen Hill and Western Bulldogs’ Mitch Wallis were others to receive nine votes.

Bontempelli was voted the second-best player on the ground in the Dogs’ win over Port Adelaide.
