AFL Coaches’ Votes – Round 5

Fremantle superstar Nat Fyfe has extended his lead atop the AFL Coaches’ Association Champion Player of the Year Leaderboard, following another outstanding performance in the Dockers’ 68-point win over Melbourne on Sunday.

The coaches awarded Fyfe nine out of a possible ten votes, with one of the coaches voting fellow midfielder David Mundy the best on ground.

Dylan Shiel’s 36 possessions against the West Coast Eagles weren’t enough to grant him votes in his side’s 87-point loss. Subsequently, he no longer sits in second spot, which has been taken by Sydney Swans midfielder Dan Hannebery. Shiel sits in equal-third spot, along with Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury, who was given a perfect 10 for his performance on Friday night.

Tom McDonald remains the highest-ranked key defender in the league, as far as the coaches are concerned, while North Melbourne’s Todd Goldstein is the only ruckman on the Coaches’ Leaderboard.

2014 AFLCA Player of the Year, Robbie Gray was voted best on ground in Port Adelaide’s showdown win. A bag of five goals from Eddie Betts wasn’t enough for him to be picked in the best four players of the match.
