Q&A with Rising Star Tom Langdon

Young Collingwood defender Tom Langdon has been named the Round 7 Rising Star nominee following his impressive 23 disposal, eight mark performance against Carlton last Friday night.

“he still has a long way to go in his football journey, but what we have seen so far has been very encouraging.” – Nathan Buckley

The 189cm defender has played all seven matches for the Pies this year, averaging 18 possessions and six marks per game.

Langdon, who grew up barracking for Richmond, found himself face to face with childhood hero Matthew Richardson in a post-match interview for Channel 7 on Friday, with ‘Richo’ encouraging Langdon to continue to go for his marks.

Coach Nathan Buckley has shown he’s willing to build a backline around young players, with Jack Frost, Marley Williams and Lachie Keeffe also looking to settle in the back half.

“Tom was originally passed over in the 2012 draft, giving him a resilience, a drive and a desire to embrace his opportunity and take it with both hands,” Buckley said.

“Having played only seven games, he still has a long way to go in his football journey, but what we have seen so far has been very encouraging.”

Langdon is elligible for this year’s 22under22 team. Will you be voting for him? Let us know in the comment box below.
