A brief history of Ladder

Ladder is an independent non-profit organisation established in 2007 to tackle youth homelessness in Australia. Founded by a group of AFL players, we empower young people aged 16-25 to break the cycle of homelessness by harnessing the support of the AFL industry’s profile, networks and players.

With the backing of the AFL industry and the players themselves, our programs not only assist young people transition to independent living, but also help restore their belief in themselves and give them the confidence to follow their dreams, free of the debilitating impact of homelessness.

AFL players past and present are involved as staff, youth mentors, advocates and  volunteers to deliver fitness sessions, or simply give their time where needed to support Ladders programs.

We currently have projects in Victoria, South Australia and Geelong, with a vision to operate in every region in Australia that hosts an AFL team by 2020
