For three years in a row, Fremantle have dominated the AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 team, presented by Snaffle, with more players selected by the fans than any other club.
Luke Jackson, Josh Treacy, Jye Amiss and Josh Draper all made the final cut, with Jackson appearing for the fourth time, continuing the trend of four Dockers in the side every year, since 2022.
In 2023, the club was represented by Caleb Serong and Hayden Young, along with Jackson and Amiss, while Andrew Brayshaw, Jordan Clark, Serong and Young were all picked by fans in the year prior.
Alongside his selections in 2021 and 2022 as a Demon, Jackson now joins Bailey Smith, Andrew McGrath, Aaron Naughton and Sam Walsh as the only players who have made the team four times. Marcus Bontempelli remains the sole five-time 22Under22 representative.
The Dockers were closely followed by Hawthorn and North Melbourne, with three representatives each. Young Hawks Jack Ginnivan, Massimo D’Ambrosio and Josh Weddle featured in the final team, while Colby McKercher, Harry Sheezel and George Wardlaw flew the flag for the Kangaroos.
Fans selected the final team from an initial 40-person squad that was compiled by Saints great Leigh Montagna, with support from the AFLPA and Champion Data.
For the second consecutive season, Nick Daicos was chosen to skipper the final team of 22, with Harry Sheezel picked as his vice-captain.
Sheezel also received the most votes of any player, appearing in 93 per cent of fans’ teams. He was closely followed by Gold Coast Sun Mac Andrew, who was selected by 90 per cent of the public for his maiden 22Under22 appearance.
To be eligible for selection, players must be aged 22 and under for the entirety of the season (inclusive of Grand Final day – September 28) and have played a minimum of 12 games throughout the 2024 season.
