Gold Coast champion Gary Ablett’s form continues to impress in season 2017, receiving unanimous best on ground honours in the 2017 Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award in Round 12.
Ablett collected 37 disposals, 10 tackles, eight clearances and kicked two goals as the Suns held off a fast-finishing Hawthorn to claim a rare MCG victory.
The dual Brownlow Medallist was duly rewarded by Rodney Eade and Alastair Clarkson, polling a maximum 10 votes for his efforts, with Hawthorn forward Jack Gunston collecting eight votes for his five-goal effort for the losing side.
Ablett was one of four players to receive maximum coaches’ votes from Round 12, with Dayne Zorko, Zach Merrett and Christian Petracca also collecting 10 votes from their respective coaches.
