Keeping the momentum going after 20DC

So you’ve completed the TeamUp 20 Day Challenge, and don’t know what to do next?

The answer is simple: keep the momentum going! For those wondering how, Ready, Steady, Glasgow might be the solution.

But before we look forward, let’s reflect on the action-packed few weeks that have seen AFL players and fans alike embracing the TeamUp app, and finding others in their area with the same exercise timetables, goals and interests.

RICHMOND STAR DAN JACKSON HAS THROWN OUT A CHALLENGE TO FANS, VIA THE TEAMUP APP, TO #RUNTHETANWITHDAN.

Highlights of the 20 Day Challenge included Joel Selwood and Lachie Henderson hitting Bells Beach for the Rip Curl Pro, Tom Lonergan and Bryce Gibbs cheering on fans at Run for the Kids, and who could forget Scott Pendlebury surprising a group of basketballers at MSAC and joining their game of three on three?

Though the 20 Day Challenge is over, there’s still one major event to come.

Richmond star Dan Jackson has thrown out a challenge to fans – via the TeamUp app, of course – to #RunTheTanwithDan.

The challenge, which is sure to draw a big crowd, will see fans test themselves against the Richmond running machine in a staggered start race around The Tan.

Full details can be found on the app, which can be downloaded here.

The TeamUp campaign has been a great success for the newly formed partnership between the AFL Players and VicHealth, who are aiming to help Victorians get moving. Alarmingly, statistics show between 25 and 30 per cent of Victorian adults take little or no part in regular physical activity.

It’s a troubling figure, but it’s never too late for people to change their exercise behaviour. For those who missed the 20 Day Challenge – as well as for those who completed it and want to keep the momentum going – Ready, Steady, Glasgow is the next great challenge.

Ready, Steady, Glasgow began in May and will continue through to June. Participants have the opportunity to take part in a series of activities with elite athletes and professional coaches at the world-class VIS facilities. It’s an opportunity to take your fitness to the next level and train like a champion ahead of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Download the TeamUp app here and search ‘Glasgow’ for activity details. Simply ‘get in touch’ to register.
