Carlton father-daughter selection Abbie McKay has been rewarded for a career-best game, nominated for her first AFLW MVP of the Week award for a stellar performance in round one.
Brisbane’s Emily Bates was nominated for a second-straight week, while Monique Conti was superb in Richmond’s first victory of the season.
McKay, the daughter of Carlton champion Andrew, gathered a match-high 26 disposals, as the Blues drew with Port Adelaide in the game at Ikon Park.
The No.16 pick in the 2018 Draft was the first father-daughter selection in the game’s history.
Bates was again brilliant for the Lions in a walloping win over Gold Coast, winning the Q Clash Medal for best on ground. She had 20 disposals, eight score involvements and two direct goal assists.
Conti’s individual performance was one of the best of the round, amassing 23 touches to go with three goals in an outstanding display.
