Statement to be attributed to AFL Players’ Association CEO Paul Marsh

The AFL Players’ Association applauds the commitment of its members to take the field this weekend.

Players will pull on their jumpers to play their role in helping the industry move forward through this extremely challenging time.

It’s crucial the industry continues to work together to monitor the situation to ensure players, their families, and the broader community, are not put at an unacceptable risk through the playing of games.

Whilst the immediate progression to a finals series in the AFLW competition will be met with disappointment from players, all players should be very proud of what they’ve achieved in season 2020.

This has been an incredibly challenging week for the industry and we wish to acknowledge the AFL for the dedication it has shown to find a way through this unprecedented situation.
