Statement to be attributed to GM of Player Relations Brett Murphy following Richmond’s decision to suspend Nathan Broad for three games.
“The AFLPA has been in regular contact with Nathan over the past week to offer our wellbeing and legal support.
We have assisted Nathan’s legal representatives and had discussions with both the Richmond Football Club and the AFL to ensure his interests were appropriately represented.
Nathan admits he made an error but has expressed genuine remorse for the distress he caused the woman involved and today accepted the sanction imposed upon him.
This is a regrettable incident, but it provides another valuable learning opportunity for the collective playing group and serves as a reminder of the impact that such actions can have.”
